Over the past few years the amount of world wide web (WWW) users have quadrupled; The numbers have skyrocketed past a billion hitting more than 20% of the worlds population paving new ways for individuals, businesses and opening new paths for web development and design.

Aisha Dorsey - July 10, 2009 -- Nowadays, it seems like everyone is on the internet and with sites like Myspace.com that allow you to dabble in web development it would appear as if the jobs of web developers are going down the tubes. So why would you want to spend your valuable dollars on a seemingly do-it-yourself service? Why do you need web development?
First, it gives you an edge over other sites. I'm sure that with a quick Google search and maybe a book for dummies you can figure out how to create a do-it-yourself webpage, but it will more than likely look like a beginner's page. Web developers have the insight, know-how and have a better idea of what's current and what will be successful for your webpage needs. They will be able to creatively design a page that accurately reflects your company's image and desires. (Think about the last time you had an electrical problem. I'm sure you thought I'm able to do it myself...but you were better off leaving it to the professionals, saving yourself time and possibly money, why not here?)
Second, it ensures the success of your company. Can you name a successful company that hasn't invested any money in advertising? By not having the right web design you could be unintentionally harming your business. Done the wrong way, web development can ruin your image, reach the wrong target market or leave you feeling frustrated and cheated (like web development is nothing but a myth.) Having a professional develop your webpage will allow you to focus on strategies on how to keep your new found customer happy!
Now web development doesn't have to be complicated. Look at sites like google.com or facebook.com. They are not fancy, they are not filled with tons of graphics, java codes or even colour, but they are effective and they reach the audience intended. They serve their purpose. They were designed to be easy to navigate and I think they are pretty effective don't you?
